i lied

heres my 18 weeks belly shot.
i stayed home from work that day b/c i had a pulled muscle in my back. so i didn't get much/any sleep the night before. and i'm in comfy clothes. and my hair is a mess. however, i did crop my slippers out of the picture.

and NOW you are caught up. promise.

the BIG ultrasound!

its referred to as the "big one" for several reasons, most importantly to majority of people, it's when you find out the sex of the baby! also, they check for all of the chambers of the heart, take lots of measurements, and count all the fingers and toes!

so last tuesday, we got about a 30 minute long ultrasound with our rolly polly baby! as soon as the screen came up, the first thing we saw was the spine. creepy sounding, yeah, but it was SO COOL! it's amazing that you can see all the bones and stuff. the baby had its back to us for majority of the time... but did flip around while we were watching. it was hard to believe how active babies are already, the tech had a hard time getting the speed of the heart beat b/c of all the movement.

the baby is weighing in at 8 oz and is measuring a few days ahead. but my due date is still the same. (from what i understand, they don't change that unless you are off by a week or more.)

since we didn't find out the sex of the baby, our dr won't know either. so the secret is safe! i do feel a little bad, b/c brandt *really* wants to know. but he agreed to wait. even though i know he isn't the happiest with that, i did promise that for #2 we would find out.

and here are a few of the pics,
labeled for your viewing pleasure!

and i think that's about it, you are all now officially caught up!

catching up...

this week baby is the size of a:
cantaloupe... starting to get big!!

and in the past 2 weeks, we've had:
a mango!

and a sweet potato!

i'm sorry

i haven't updated in so long! i've been meaning to... i sort of took a hiatus from the internet. i all but abandoned my myspace and didn't even log into facebook for weeks at a time. i've had this nasty cough, but no other symptoms! i'm sure its sinus/allergy related, but, being pregnant, i am severly limited to what i can take. i've been to a regular dr and my ob, and nothing they reccomend helps. oh well. 2 pulled muscles later, i think it's finally subsiding. (its been a month!)

i'll be posting stuff soon!

dont get excited...

i was worried that the new blog make-over would make people think that maybe we are having a girl! but no... don't read too much into the pink. i just liked the birds.

for the record, we are not finding out the sex of the baby. i like surprises :)

week 17

we have an onion!

also, from WhatToExpect.com:

Your baby is almost certainly listening up by now. In fact, loud noises — the dog barking, the doorbell ringing — will actually startle your baby (and also get him or her used to such noises; for instance, fetuses who regularly hear a dog barking will become babies who sleep right through Fido's outbursts).

if you have met my Nevaeh, you will understand why this is such good news! she is a very loud and excited dog, and we've worried about how often she will wake up the baby once he/she is here! maybe the baby will be immune to my foghorn of a dog!

we are in week 16

this week the baby is an avocado

and (this is pretty cool) my avocado can hear me now! no one else for the time being, but i'm sure that will happen soon enough! so i guess you can't call me crazy if i am walking around talking to myself, maybe my baby and i are having a deep conversation...
